For my postcard, I wanted the audience to know that the story was about a teenage girl. This was because it was teenage girls that I planned to be my target market. Through vicarious viewing it would be teenage girls that would be effected the most from watching 'Toast'. As my first poster in which Amelia is lying down with the UCAS web page behind her, the audience will get an immediate understanding without giving too much away what the film is about. If I were to leave the image without changing the background the image may have been misleading. As Amelia is crying in bed in childish pajamas it may have appeared to be NSPCC styled advert, definitely not what I was trying to convey. My second poster design featured Amelia staring into the camera with piles of books behind her. Again this reinforced the story giving the audience a general idea of what the film is about. Therefore, I knew that I wanted to relate with my audience from first appearance of the poster to maximize the possibility of people viewing the film.
In my opinion, I had three types of review I could have pursued. A tabloid styled review, which would be found in a weekly women's interest magazine e.g. Heat, Now or OK. This would have been extremely short, brief and lacking knowledge. Secondly, I could do Empire Magazine which is known for its comical and snappy film reviews, which is directed at ages 15 and above. Lastly I could have done Sight and Sound, a highly technical film based magazine. I did not want to do this as Toast is directed at mainly young females. However, by placing my review in Empire there is more chance of it being seen by both genders and a broader age group. Where as Sight and Sound is more of a niche market magazine that young females wouldn't read. Doing Empire would also be closer to the way in which I write, so was therefore best suited to myself. This the review in which I created:
In the way that "Cop Out" has been given the top half of the page for a review.
My review was successful, as following my questionnaires I found as a result, readers wanted to view Toast.
